The 48th Annual Polar Bear Day invited people to take the plunge into Lake Havasu’s 57-degree water on Saturday afternoon. This year’s event was “better than ever,” organizers said. The event was held at London Bridge Beach and sponsored by the Havasu Boat & Ski Club. Participants paid $5 to dunk themselves in the lake and earn a Polar Bear patch. Those who only managed to wade in part way earned a Chicken patch.

Back in the day it was at the Nautical beach and you skied behind a boat for your patch. The chicken patch went to those who walked in the water.
