At a special meeting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the governing board of the Lake Havasu Unified School District will review and perhaps approve the district’s annual financial report for 2018-2019.
Business Services Director Mike Murray will present the report.
The other item on the short agenda is the governing board’s self-evaluation.
The annual exercise asks the board members to rate themselves on their performance as a board. The review is completed at the request of the Arizona School Boards Association, said board President Kathy Cox.
“We evaluate things such as how well we, as a board, communicate with the district’s superintendent. We also look at how clearly we communicate our positions on issues with the community and we examine our ethics and professional conduct,” Cox said.
She said the board is tasked with reaching a consensus on several items, which includes assigning “grades” to those items, such as “satisfactory” or “needs improvement.”
“It’s not about judging any one individual board member,” she added. “We’re evaluating how we work together as a board and figuring out if there are areas that need improvement.”
The board’s next scheduled meeting is Oct. 22 at 6 p.m.
Both meetings are at the school district’s administration office, 2200 Havasupai Blvd.
