Two Kingman residents were arrested Friday after a grisly discovery by Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies.
Detectives received information last week about a possible murder that occurred at a Kingman residence this April. After conducting surveillance, the sheriff’s office reported Monday, deputies served a search warrant at the residence Wednesday morning.
During their search, deputies allegedly discovered the body of a woman concealed in a 55-gallon drum on the property, which was buried in a shallow grave. Kingman residents Mark A. Baldonado, 31, and Carrie C. Vanover, 23, were arrested at the scene.
Deputies say the victim is believed to be Shawn M. Vanover, the mother of Carrie Vanover. An autopsy will soon be performed to positively identify the victim and determine her cause of death.
According to the sheriff’s office, both suspects confessed to their involvement in the victim’s death, and have each been charged with first-degree murder.
The investigation remains ongoing, and further information will be released as it becomes available.
