With a “disturbing surge of infections” in coronavirus cases nationwide, Dr. Tony Fauci testified before Congress Tuesday that the next two weeks will be critical in controlling the spread.

The country has seen an increase in cases nationwide over the last two weeks, with the biggest in Oregon, Oklahoma, Florida, Texas and Arizona, where President Donald Trump visited Tuesday. In coming weeks, with hospitalizations also rising in many states, so too could deaths. Alas, at this critical moment, when Americans desperately need a clear and sober voice to guide them, the president is again sowing seeds of confusion.

Saturday, at his superspreader rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he boasted of telling his team to “slow down testing.” Sunday, the White House claimed he was joking. Tuesday, Trump declared, “I don’t kid.”

In their testimony, Fauci, CDC head Robert Redfield, testing czar Adm. Brett Giroir and FDA chief Stephen Hahn all agreed that they had not been told to slow down; they all urged more testing. Yet Sen. Chuck Schumer separately asked the Department of Health and Human Services why at least $8 billion Congress authorized in pandemic response aid to the states, specifically for testing, had yet to be released. In his testimony, Fauci again encouraged the following of CDC guidelines, especially by young people, including continued use of masks and social distancing. Of course, Trump’s Arizona “youth rally” had little distancing and few masks.

With no coherent leadership at the top, is there any wonder that a deadly pandemic is now resurgent?

First president to declare all out war on the free press, penned the phrase fake news to convince his followers not to listen to all the evidence of lies he has said and lies he has supported or repeated numerous times. Only thing fake is the leadership, the country does not have any, and we have the religious right to thank for bringing this completely immoral person into leadership.

And from Larry Kudlow, Director of the U.S. Economic Council, where does the "draft dodger" find these guys. Thank God, now I can return to a normal life and sleep well again. From the mouths of babes: “There is no emergency. There is no second wave. I don’t know where that got started on Wall Street,” Kudlow told “Fox & Friends". Although he acknowledged that he is “not the health expert", (Really! Sherlock!) he said he had spoken with the administration’s top public health officials “at some length”. “They are saying there is no second spike. Let me repeat that. There is no second spike,” he said. I think Mr. Kudlow should concentrate on what he is overpaid for, the failing ECONOMY and its recovery! I also acknowledge he is not a health expert, don't know if he qualifies as a economy person either, but he sure in hell qualifies as . . . . and let me repeat this a few times, "He is a moron!" ditto, ditto, ditto!

I didn't need government people telling me how to prepare for Covid 19. Didn't need the president, senate, house members, governor, or mayor saying what I should do. Early on, common sense dictated that "hunkering down" was the answer. I stayed away from restaurants, bars, and large social gatherings. Wore a mask and used hand sanitizer whenever I did venture out. "The Blame Game." That's what people do when they lack intelligence to act on their own behalf, and make wrong decisions. See a tornado coming? Seek shelter fast. Only an idiot would stand around waiting for President Trump to tell them where to go. We see these type individuals each year when hurricanes roll through. They remain in the storm's path, and when it's all over, and they're banged up, they point fingers for their ignorance. It seems Democrats are notorious for such behavior. The big question being, why?

Yes Sir, Simon they have shifted to the “full court press” with “fake news” and skewed polling. If you’re an “commodity” trader, I’m thinking “crying towels” is a good investment in the futures market with a big November payoff! Plus the LA Times is “wrong” about EVERYTHING! [thumbup][beam] Deaton

Simon your last sentence referring to Dems, this is a "red" administration, state, county and city, so???

HavasuGuy

shut - Great point, simon makes good points about the tRUMP-20 virus but he blames the "boogey man"? He's a special kind of tRUMP supporter...

When you have an impeached clown supposedly running the nation you can expect a circus.

shutthefrontdoor

Speaking of the circus and clowns, they too, like our city leaders arrive for work in one car!

HavasuGuy

Are you referring to Covid-Cal and the City Clown Council?

To be fair, there are council members who want to do more to slowdown the spread of this virus, but Covid-Cal has overridden them in regards to protecting the health and safety of the citizens.

On another related note, the crowds and profits at the London Bridge Resort have been big...
