Lake Havasu junior Reese Myers smiles after celebrating a point with her teammates in Wednesday’s home match against Kingman Academy. The Knights won Thursday night in Kingman to earn their third straight sweep.

The Lake Havasu volleyball team capped a busy week with its third sweep in as many nights as it swept Kingman in a road match on Thursday.

The Knights won 25-14, 25-13 and 25-22.

“It’s always good to win these non-conference games and improve in the power rankings,” said head coach Kari Thompson. “Having these quick games and getting them over in three games allowed us to save energy.”

Lake Havasu swept River Valley on Tuesday and Kingman Academy on Wednesday in a pair of home matches.

Wednesday’s win over Kingman Academy was crucial to Thompson as the Knights suffered a loss to the Tigers last season.

Next week, the Knights will have two rematches as they hit the road to take on Lee Williams on Tuesday and River Valley on Wednesday. Both matches will begin at 6 p.m.

“Lee Williams has a good strong offense and they bring a ton of energy,” said Thompson. “We need to capitalize on their mistakes and make sure we don’t have a letdown the next day against River Valley.”

Previously, Lake Havasu faced Lee Williams twice in the Mary Jo Goldey Invite, with the Knights winning in pool play, but the Volunteers winning in the championship match.

Lake Havasu is not scheduled to host a home match until Tuesday, Oct. 1 against Mohave.
